2001: A Space Odyssey ultimately attempts to tell the entire story of the evolution of mankind, beginning with an ape from the past to a star-being of the future. It also meets in the middle, with the creation of the first artificial intelligence machine, the HAL 9000. The film's long shots of space and concepts never seen before captivate the audience in a universe of wonder, however, also makes the movie slow sometimes. Stanley Kubrick does not fail to finish with absolute ambiguity, allowing the audience to interpret the conclusion for themselves. Overall a brilliant movie filled with symbolism and foreshadowing of our present world, and the future.
